Who Was Steve Pool?
Steve Pool was an eminent American weather presenter and journalist, who left a great mark on the broadcasting landscape.
From his early days covering sports for KOMO-TV in Seattle in 1977 to his position as the principal weather anchor from 1984 to 2019, Pool’s career was a proof of his passion for meteorology.

In the 1980s, Pool expanded his influence by hosting the program “Front Runners” every Saturday on KOMO-TV. His dedication to engaging storytelling extended to the 1990s, where he served as the host of the children’s Direct-to-video series “Little Steps.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Pool earned accolades, receiving eight Emmy Awards. His expertise even graced the national stage with over 70 appearances on Good Morning America.
Beyond the screen, Pool shared his knowledge in his book “Somewhere, I Was Right,” a comprehensive exploration of weather and forecasting.
Recognition for Pool’s contributions came in 2004 when he was inducted into the University of Washington Department of Communications Hall of Fame.
However, in November 2019, Pool announced his retirement from broadcasting after successfully battling prostate cancer.
