Cover with foil and refrigerate. When you’re ready to cook the casserole, set the baking dish out as you preheat your oven so it can begin to come to room temperature. Then, remove the foil, and add the fried onions and garnishes before baking according to recipe instructions.

It is also suggested that you can make green bean casserole 48 hours ahead of time and reheat it later. Simply follow the recipe instructions and bake the casserole. Once it’s cooled, cover it and store it in the fridge for up to four days.

It is also recommended to reheat green bean casserole in an oven-safe dish by covering it with aluminum foil and heating it for 20 minutes. Add an additional 10 minutes if the casserole isn’t thoroughly heated.

After heating for 20, remove the foil, add more fried onions or other toppings of your choice, then reheat for an additional 10 minutes.
