Since 2022, Dru Joyce has been the assistant head coach of Duquesne. As the associate head coach for the Duquesne Dukes men’s team, Dru Joyce III continues to impart his knowledge, leadership, and love for the game to a new generation of basketball enthusiasts. His coaching style reflects a blend of his rich playing experience, coaching acumen, and an understanding of the dynamics that make a team thrive.

Following his successful stint at St. Vincent–St. Mary, Joyce embarked on a 12-year professional playing career in Europe. He showcased his talents on the courts of the Basketball Bundesliga in Germany, etching his name in history as the all-time assists leader—a record that stood until recently surpassed.

Joyce’s prowess as a player contributed not only to his achievements but also to the growth and popularity of basketball in Europe.

The transition from player to coach was a natural progression for Dru Joyce III. In the 2019–20 season, he took on the role of a coach with the Cleveland State Vikings men’s team, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his basketball career. Leveraging the insights gained from his extensive playing experience, Joyce brought a unique perspective to the coaching realm.
