Born in Vietnam, Thúy’s journey from Saigon to Montreal is a testament to resilience, cultural intersections, and the enduring power of family.

Growing up in Saigon alongside her two brothers, Thúy’s early years were shaped by the vibrant tapestry of Vietnamese culture. However, the winds of change swept through her life at the tender age of ten.

The fall of Saigon in 1975 marked a pivotal moment as Thúy, along with her parents and siblings, joined the ranks of over one million Vietnamese boat people seeking refuge from the communist regime.

In the late months of 1979, the Thúy family arrived in Granby, nestled in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Subsequently, they found their permanent home in Montreal, where the vibrant multiculturalism of the city became the backdrop for the next chapters of their lives.
