On the regional circuit in Washington, Chase Hooper amassed an impressive amateur record of 5–0, securing four stoppage wins in the process. His transition to professional competition occurred on October 7, 2017, in a bout against Edson Penado.

Hooper’s victory in that match, achieved through a rear-naked choke submission in the first round, underscored his adeptness in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Notably, he had already earned the title of juvenile Pan American champion as a blue belt in BJJ.
