He starred as Jackson Curtis in Roland Emmerich’s disaster film “2012” (2009) and portrayed Edgar Allan Poe in “The Raven” (2012).

Despite controversies, such as a tweet that led to accusations of antisemitism in 2019, Cusack remains engaged in social and political discourse. His experiences during a George Floyd protest in 2020, where he was attacked by police, further highlighted his commitment to raising awareness about social justice issues.

On October 15, 2023, Cusack participated in a Pro-Palestinian March in Chicago, sharing his perspectives on the rally through Twitter. He expressed solidarity with Palestinian protesters and condemned Israeli bombings, reflecting his ongoing involvement in advocating for various causes.
