Kevin Turen, the producer known for his contributions to HBO’s “Euphoria” and “The Idol,” as well as Ti West’s projects like “X,” “Pearl,” and “MaXXXine,” has passed away at the age of 44. A spokesperson for Penske Media Corporation, the parent company of The Hollywood Reporter, confirmed Turen’s death, with no additional details available at this time.

“Despite his numerous achievements in Hollywood, Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends,” stated Jay Penske, CEO of PMC and a close friend of Turen. “He took immense pride in his children, and he and his wife, Evelina, were dedicated to instilling strong values in them, ensuring they made a difference in the broader world. Our collective heart breaks for them, and we all feel such a profound sense of loss. Kevin will be dearly missed, and today, our town mourns the loss of one of its brightest rising stars.”

Turen played a significant role alongside Sam and Ashley Levinson, co-founding Little Lamb Productions, the force behind the acclaimed HBO drama series “Euphoria,” which earned 25 Emmy nominations and won nine. The collaboration extended to projects like HBO’s “The Idol” and the feature film “Pieces of a Woman” (2020), earning Vanessa Kirby an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Turen also enjoyed a close creative partnership with filmmaker Ti West, producing “X” (2022) and “Pearl” (2022), the first two installments of the acclaimed “X” trilogy, as well as the upcoming third film, “MaXXXine.”

Born in New York City in 1979, Turen studied at Columbia University, graduating with a degree in English and Critical Film Studies. His journey into the film industry began at Capital Entertainment, later becoming First Look Studios, where he rose to president of production. During his tenure, Turen acquired and distributed over 100 films, including notable titles like “The Proposition,” “The Dead Girl” (2006), and “An American Crime” (2007).

Transitioning to Infinity Media and later becoming a principal at Treehouse Pictures, Turen continued to make a mark, producing films such as Nicholas Jareki’s “Arbitrage” (2012) and J.C. Chandor’s “All is Lost” (2013). His contributions also include projects like “99 Homes” (2014), “At Any Price” (2012), and “That Awkward Moment” (2014).
