Who Was Pete Garner?

Pete Garner was a musician known for his contribution to the iconic band, The Stone Roses.

Garner’s journey in the world of music began as he joined forces with Ian Brown and John Squire to form a band known as The Patrol.

Together, they honed their musical talents and embarked on a journey that would eventually lead to the birth of The Stone Roses. In 1984, The Stone Roses released their debut single, setting the stage for a revolution in the British music scene.

During his tenure as the original bassist in The Stone Roses from 1983 to 1987, Pete Garner lent his musical prowess to some of the band’s early hits. Songs like “So Young,” “Tell Me,” and “Sally Cinnamon” bear the mark of his talent and dedication.

However, it was at the Larks in the Park festival at Liverpool’s Sefton Park in August 1987 that Pete Garner played his final gig with The Stone Roses.

Shortly after, he decided to part ways with the band which continued to make their mark on the music scene.

With Ian Brown as the frontman and John Squire as the guitarist, the band released two iconic albums before ultimately disbanding in 1996.

However, in 2012, the band reunited for a remarkable world tour, which included three unforgettable homecoming gigs at Heaton Park.
