Concerned about the lack of communication and connection, Stamos decided to pay a visit to Copley’s home to check on her. What he discovered was nothing short of heartbreaking. Upon arriving at her house, he noticed an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway, sparking his suspicion.
As he cautiously approached the car, Stamos examined its contents, revealing personal items that sent a wave of shock and confusion through him. Among the belongings were a hairbrush, keys, boxing gloves, and an alluring poster of his girlfriend, which he had never seen before. The poster depicted Copley in a compromising position, covered by only a white sheet.
Unable to enter the house through the front or side doors, Stamos ventured to the guesthouse, where he made a heartbreaking discovery. Inside, he found a man, whom he referred to as “Mr. Porsche Speedster,” referring to the vintage convertible parked in Copley’s driveway. The sight was gut-wrenching, as he encountered the painful reality of Copley’s infidelity.
Stamos vividly recounts the tumultuous mix of emotions that overcame him during this traumatic experience. He describes his racing mind, spinning room, and the overwhelming feeling of nausea. It was a scenario that he had never anticipated and that would become his worst nightmare.
Before departing Copley’s residence, Stamos couldn’t resist one final heart-wrenching act. He retrieved the poster of Copley, which had been left inside the Porsche, for a closer examination. The poster was signed by Copley, bearing the poignant message, “My Dear Tony, I’ll love you forever.”
As he drove away from the painful scene, listening to Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer,” Stamos had an epiphany. It was during this song that he realized the identity of Copley’s secret lover, with the lyrics “Hold me closer, Tony Danza” revealing the shocking truth.
John Stamos’ upcoming memoir promises to provide readers with a candid and deeply personal account of this painful chapter in his life, as well as many other significant moments in his journey.
