Melissa Barrera is an actress who has made a name for herself in both Mexican and Hollywood productions.
Born and raised in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, Barrera’s journey in the world of entertainment began early in her life.
She attended the American School Foundation of Monterrey, where she made her mark by taking part in school musical productions such as “Grease,” “Aida,” and “Footloose.”

However, Barrera’s formal training in musical theater took her all the way to New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts.
Barrera’s television debut came in 2011 on the Mexican reality show, “La Academia,” where she showcased her remarkable singing ability.
In 2013, she joined forces with Sebastian, forming the duo “Melissa y Sebastian.” Their partnership led to the recording of their first album and a chart-topping radio hit with their debut single, a cover of Ricchi e Poveri’s 1980s classic, “Mamma Maria.”
One of her notable contributions to Mexican television came in 2015 when she recorded the theme song “Volver a caer” alongside the Mexican singer Kalimba for the telenovela “Tanto amor.”
In Hollywood, Barrera became best known for her role as Sam Carpenter in the iconic slasher film series “Scream” and “Scream VI.”
Another significant milestone in her career was her role in the Starz series “Vida,” and the musical film “In the Heights”.
