Chamika Karunaratne grew up with his siblings – Niluka Karunaratne and Dinuka Karunaratne – who are both professional badminton players.

Niluka Karunaratne
Niluka has played in the Olympics three times.
He currently ranks number one in badminton in Sri Lanka and is Sri Lanka’s most decorated badminton player with a record 21 medals, including 9 gold medals, out of which five we’re won in different continents.
Niluka is a 17-time national badminton champion, the most record by a Sri Lankan badminton player.
In 2021, Chamika teamed up with Niluka to participate in the first round encounters in the men’s singles of the Sri Lankan Badminton Nationals.

Dinuka Karunaratne
Dinuka began playing badminton at aged 7. In 2004 and 2005 he won “the boys’ singles and doubles of the Sri Lankan Junior National Badminton Championships.”
He also took part in the South Asian Games in Nepal in 2019, and “won the silver medal in the team event, and the bronze medal in the singles event.”
