English musician Neville John Holder is well known as the primary singer and frontman of the band Slade.
He and the bassist Jim Lea co-wrote the majority of the band’s songs, and he is renowned for his unusual rock vocal style.

Holder was convinced to join The N’ Betweens in 1966 by drummer Don Powell. The group already contained guitarist Dave Hill and bassist/keyboardist/violinist/songwriter Jim Lea. Together, they created Ambrose Slade, which later changed its name to Slade and became one of the best-selling rock bands in Britain.

Lea and Holder ended up being the band’s most successful songwriting duo, penning nearly all of the band’s compositions. With its original lineup, the band recorded 21 hit songs and published 15 albums.
