Beyond the Highland Games, Webster made significant strides in the world of weightlifting. He held the position of Chairman of Scottish Weightlifting and donned multiple hats as the national coach, referee, and competitor in the sport.

His extensive involvement in the sport led him to the grandest of stages, as he attended the 1960, 1968, and 1972 Olympics as part of the Scottish delegation.

Moreover, he lent his expertise to the World and European Championships every year from 1961 to 1966, serving as a technical official, referee, and coach.

Webster also took on the role of coach for the British team at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Malta in 1983.

Additionally, he was an official in bodybuilding and played a pivotal role as a founding member of the National Amateur Bodybuilding Association (NABBA).
