Together with her husband, the legendary photographer and mountaineer Jimmy Chin, they are raising their two children, Marina and James, to appreciate and partake in the great outdoors.

Marina Chin, their eldest child, was welcomed into the world on September 25, 2013. From an early age, Marina showed a keen interest in the exhilarating world of mountain climbing, an unsurprising passion given her father’s audacious spirit.

Jimmy Chin, an accomplished mountaineer himself, often takes Marina along on exploratory trips, imparting his knowledge and love for the outdoors. It’s a unique opportunity for Marina to connect with nature and gain firsthand insights into the breathtaking landscapes that her parents capture on film.

The Chin family expanded with the arrival of James Chin, who was born on December 7, 2015. Although still young, James has already made appearances on his parents’ social media accounts, where their love for adventure and exploration is prominently displayed.

While Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi may not be as eager to scale mountains as her husband and children, she plays an integral role in nurturing their shared enthusiasm for adventure.
