American pop/rock singer and composer Dwight Twilley (June 6, 1951 – October 18, 2023) is best known for the Top 20 hits “I’m on Fire” (1975) and “Girls” (1984). Power pop is a genre that is often linked with his music. After 1978, Twilley continued to play as a solo act. Twilley and Phil Seymour became known as the Dwight Twilley Band.

Twilley and Phil Seymour first connected in Tulsa in 1967 while attending a showing of A Hard Day’s Night by The Beatles. They quickly started creating songs and making recordings together. Under the name Oister, they kept working together during the ensuing years. Twilley played guitar, keyboard, and drums; Seymour played bass and drums; and they both sang lead and harmony vocals on all the tunes.

I’m on Fire and Girls are only a couple of the power pop songs that made the American performer famous.
Twilley recorded many songs in Tulsa’s Church Studio, where his wife, Jan, confirmed the news of his passing in a statement. There is no additional information available regarding his cause of death.
However, as they “honor and remember the remarkable life” of the late singer, his family pledged to “provide further details” in “the days to come.”
