Burt Young, the Oscar-nominated actor who co-starred with Sylvester Stallone in the smash 1976 hit Rocky, passed away earlier this month in Los Angeles, according to his daughter, who spoke to The New York Times. Burt Young was a former professional boxer.

Paulie returns to the meat-packing job where he started in the 2006 film “Rocky Balboa,” but after being laid off, he loses his doubt about Rocky’s decision to fight again and becomes his cornerman. Young did not make an appearance in the 2015 film “Creed,” as Paulie is alleged to have passed away in 2012.

Young was a trucker in Sam Peckinpah’s terrible 1978 film “Convoy,” which starred Kris Kristofferson, and he also portrayed Rodney Dangerfield’s bodyguard in the 1986 comedy “Back to School.”

In the 2015 movie Creed, Young did not reprise his part; the character was said to have passed away in 2012.
