American actor and comedian Denis Leary was born on August 18, 1957. Leary, who was raised in Massachusetts, first gained notoriety as a stand-up comic, particularly through appearances on MTV (where he performed the funny song “Asshole”) and the stand-up specials No Cure for Cancer (1993) and Lock ‘n Load (1997).

In the 1990s, Leary started acting in movies and on television. He had significant roles in Judgment Night (1993), Gunmen (1994), Operation Dumbo Drop (1995), and Wag the Dog (1997), among others.

He was hired for Law & Order: Organized Crime’s Frank Donnelly, a recurring character who works for the NYPD, in 2022.
Since the documentary series Behind the B premiered on NESN in 2013, Leary has served as its narrator. The series is about the Boston Bruins.

Denis Colin Leary, the son of Catholic immigrants from County Kerry, Ireland, was born on August 18, 1957, in Worcester, Massachusetts. His father, John Leary (1924–1985), was an auto mechanic, and his mother, Nora (born on 1929), worked as a maid. Leary holds dual citizenship in Ireland and the United States. Conan O’Brien, who hosts a talk show, has a third cousin named Leary.
