Because of Marsy’s Law, the victim, who fled inside the restaurant after the shooting and is believed to be alive, is not being named, according to sheriff’s spokesman Teri Barbera.

According to the Miami Herald, he donated more than $200,000 to politics over a 20-year period, mostly to Republicans. In 2018, Alembik criticized the former president Barack Obama with racist remarks. Scott’s successor, DeSantis, was vying for the governorship. Following the remarks, Scott—who was running for the Senate—sent the $1,100 donation from Alembik to a charity.
