Alyssa Nakken, a professional baseball coach with the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB), was born in the United States on June 13, 1990. As well as becoming the first woman to coach on the field during a big league game, she is the first full-time female coach in MLB history.

She played collegiate softball at California State University, Sacramento. In 2014, Nakken began working as an intern for the San Francisco Giants’ baseball operations division. She worked on wellness and health initiatives for the group.

She attended the University of San Francisco, where she also served as the baseball team’s chief information officer, to obtain a master’s degree in sports management in 2015. In January 2020, the Giants elevated her to assistant coach status on the major league coaching staff.

Nakken and Robert are currently expecting a daughter, who is due in early February, as their first child. Nakken is one of a number of internal candidates who are now being considered to succeed Kapler, who was fired with one year remaining on his contract after the Giants failed to reach the postseason for a second straight year.
