Since 2022, Michael Cheika has served as the head coach of Argentina’s national rugby team. Cheika was born on March 4, 1967, in Australia. From 2014 to 2019, Cheika served as the team’s head coach in rugby union.

The World Rugby Coach of the Year honor was bestowed upon him in 2015. Heineken Cup with Leinster in 2009 and Super Rugby with the New South Wales Waratahs in 2014 make him the only coach to have triumphed in each hemisphere’s premier rugby club championship.

Cheika held head coaching positions at Padova, Randwick, and Stade Français throughout his career. Since his parents arrived in Australia in the 1950s, Cheika is a second-generation Lebanese Australian. Cheika joined the Japanese rugby union team Green Rockets in May 2021 as director of rugby.
