José Leclerc’s life began with its share of challenges. His father left the family when he was just a baby, leaving a void that Fiordaliza, his mother, would fill with extraordinary strength and resilience.

José, along with his three brothers, was raised by his single mother, Fiordaliza. She worked tirelessly, often enduring 12-hour workdays as a cook and seamstress.

Her determination to provide for her children knew no bounds. Fiordaliza not only earned a modest salary but also brought home food from the restaurant to feed her family.

Despite the financial constraints and long hours at work, she instilled in her children the values of perseverance, dedication, and the importance of family. Fiordaliza’s relentless efforts, her unbreakable spirit, and her love were the guiding lights in her children’s lives.

José’s path to professional baseball was not an easy one. He signed with the Texas Rangers as an international free agent in 2010 and made his Major League Baseball debut in 2016.

José Leclerc recognized the profound impact of his mother’s support and love. He didn’t take his success for granted, and in a heartwarming gesture, he built a modest house for Fiordaliza in the Dominican Republic.
