She died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, including her husband, Alan Hamel, her son Bruce, and her immediate family.

This week, a private family burial will take place to honor her memory. Subsequently, a memorial service will be held in November to celebrate her life and the indomitable spirit she brought to the entertainment industry.

Somers had been battling an aggressive form of breast cancer for over two decades.

Her battle with breast cancer began in 2000, a fight she valiantly faced for more than 23 years.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, she had shared her breast cancer’s return in an Instagram post just a few months before her passing.

Born Suzanne Marie Mahoney on October 16, 1946, in San Bruno, California, she came from a humble background, with a gardener father and a medical secretary mother.

Her journey to stardom started as a model, eventually leading to her first credited role in George Lucas’s iconic 1973 film, “American Graffiti,” where she played a nameless blonde beauty. Her role in the film caught the eye of audiences and industry insiders alike.

Throughout the 1970s, Suzanne graced television screens with her appearances in popular shows such as “The Rockford Files,” “Magnum Force,” and “The Six Million Dollar Man.”

Her breakthrough moment came in 1977 when she was cast as one of the two female leads in the beloved ABC sitcom “Three’s Company.”

Somers continued to make her mark on television with roles in “She’s the Sheriff” from 1987 to 1989 and “Step by Step” from 1991 to 1998.
