James Tomsula, an American football coach who was born on April 14, 1967, is the leader of the Rhein Fire in the European League of Football (ELF). Throughout his career, Tomsula has worked as a defensive coach. He has also served as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL) and the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe.

Homestead, a Pittsburgh suburb, is where Tomsula was born and reared. He transferred to Catawba College from Middle Tennessee State University after the 1986 season, where he played defensive end from 1987 to 1990. Tomsula made 109 tackles in two seasons at Catawba College.

Tomsula was appointed the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive line coach on January 8, 2020. Tomsula and Mike Nolan, the defensive coordinator, were fired on January 8, 2021.

Julie Tomsula is the wife of Jim Tomsula. James Andrew Tomsula is the son of Jim and Julie Tomsula, and Britney and Brooke Tomsula are their two daughters.
Jim Tomsula joined the Washington Redskins in 2017 as the defensive line coach, and he remained with the team until 2019, when he was hired by the Dallas Cowboys to fill the same role.
