The game, held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, saw Nigeria struggling to score, trailing 1-0 at half-time. Themba Zwane put South Africa ahead in the 29th minute with a solo goal.

In the second half, Nigeria came back strong. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored the equalizer early in the half with a well-placed shot after a precise pass from Alex Iwobi.

The Super Eagles kept attacking, with Samuel Chukwueze nearly scoring after a run from the wing, but his shot hit the goalpost.

Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman also had several chances, but the South African goalkeeper made key saves, including one from Lookman’s curling shot.

Terem Moffi missed a close-range opportunity, unable to react quickly enough, and was stopped by the visiting goalkeeper.

This draw puts Nigeria in 5th place in Group C of the CAF qualifiers. The Super Eagles aim for a better result in their next match against Benin on Monday, June 10.
