17-Year-Old PRESEC Student Reportedly Kidnapped

A harrowing incident has rocked the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, as reports emerge of a 17-year-old student allegedly being kidnapped on March 28, 2024.

The victim, hailing from Obuasi, was en route home for the vacation when the unfortunate incident occurred.

According to distressing accounts, the family received alarming photos indicating that the student had suffered harm at the hands of the kidnappers.

Despite swift action by the parents, who reported the matter to the police CID headquarters and PRESEC officials, progress in the case has been frustratingly slow.

Authorities at the school have reportedly shown limited involvement, citing the incident’s occurrence off-campus as grounds for minimal intervention.

Meanwhile, the perpetrators, demanding an exorbitant ransom of 34 million naira (approximately GHC340,000), have resorted to threatening the family with the sale of the victim’s body parts.

In a desperate bid to secure their son’s release, the family negotiated the ransom down to GHC20,000, which was promptly transferred to the kidnappers. However, the perpetrators are now demanding an additional GHC300,000 before considering the student’s freedom.

As the ordeal enters its seventh day, the family’s anguish grows, compounded by fears for their son’s safety. Urgent appeals have been made to government authorities and law enforcement agencies to expedite efforts in rescuing the abducted PRESEC student and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
