This includes GH₵1,000 as incentives for volunteering and GH₵200 for transportation. Before this announcement, volunteers had received GH₵200 for transportation.
To claim their benefits, volunteers must provide necessary proof, as stated by Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare, the committee’s Chairman.
The decision to compensate volunteers was made in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, acknowledging their vital role in the Games’ success.

This move follows a dispute where volunteers alleged officials withheld allowances of GH₵2,000 and GH₵500 for transportation.
The conflict led to volunteers reportedly being ejected from their accommodation. Some were later provided with GH₵200 for transportation.
The 13th African Games, initially planned for August 2023, were delayed to March 2024 due to facility completion delays and revenue disagreements.
Despite these challenges, the Games, hosted in Ghana’s main city Accra and sub-host cities Kumasi and Cape Coast, successfully took place from March 8 to March 23, 2024.
